Kecia L. Ellick, Ph.D., M.S., CFLE, CPC

OUR FOUNDER

Dr. Kecia L. Ellick is a research scientist with a background in public health, psychology, and higher education. She holds a Ph.D. in family science from the University of Maryland, an M.S. in developmental psychology from Clayton State University, and undergraduate degrees in psychology and sociology from Georgia State University. Additionally, Dr. Ellick has certifications in family life education, mental health first aid, professional coaching, and civil & domestic relations mediation. She has more than 12 years of experience in academia, public health research, program development, and evaluation.

Dr. Ellick's expertise lies in health equity, sexual & reproductive health, social determinants of health, substance abuse, and qualitative research design & analysis. She has contributed to the analysis of qualitative data for a study investigating the adoption of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and gender-affirming therapy (GAT) among Black and Latina transwomen. She has also undertaken mixed-method analyses of data from health teams aiming to improve health outcomes for pregnant and postpartum women with opioid use disorder.

In her role as a project coordinator and qualitative analyst, Dr. Ellick has facilitated regular team meetings with internal and external state & federal partners. She has prepared agendas, led meetings, summarized meeting outcomes, and compiled monthly progress reports. She has also kept track of project timelines and deliverables. Dr. Ellick has managed technical assistance requests from state teams participating in CDC-funded programs. She has worked with states to identify needs and assign tasks to the project team, tracking progress to ensure timely service delivery. She has identified staff training needs and resources and facilitated training sessions. Additionally, Dr. Ellick has trained junior staff and fellows on qualitative research design and analysis, created training materials, and guided the team in analyzing program-related data. She has also been involved in the development of a health equity toolkit.
